Fidel J. Matassa

Fidel Jose Matassa - from Fort Worth, TX. was called home by the Lord on Tuesday March 14th in Ft Worth. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, a wonderful father and godfather to the entire family, a wonderful grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was a righteous man, the truest of friends. He was born on August 11th 1936 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Martin Fidel Matassa and Ana Deboli Matassa. At 18 years of age, he was drafted and served in the Argentine Army. He fell in love with and eventually married Juana Emilia Urnizius on February 7th 1959. Fidel began working as a kid, after the Army, he became an apprentice working on sewing machines, this launched him on a path to becoming a machinist, and eventually a tool and die maker. Fidel worked hard all his life to provide a good life to his family. He was a great car mechanic, and could always figure out how to repair most everything. He was also a champion Tango dancer and Actor (Main character in “La Nona”). Fidel was known as a great joker and story teller; and because of his looks when he was young, was known as the Argentinian "Elvis”.

Fidel was survived by Son: Sergio Omar Matassa and Daughter- in-law Beth Joy Matassa of Ben Wheeler, TX; Daughter: Monica Gabriela Gregory and Son-in-law Christopher David Gregory from Ft Worth, TX: Son: Alejandro Ricardo Matassa from Southlake, TX. Grandchildren: Eric Sandman, Joe Atinsky, Tawanna Baker, Tonia Barnes, Susan Matassa, Sara Hanshew, David Matassa, Daniel Gregory, Amarise Gregory, and Eliana Gregory. Great Grand Children: Jasmine Neely, Carissa Graves, Kalie Schroth, McKenna Barnes, Jeremiah Barnes, Elisabeth Sandman, Annelise Sandman, Caeli Hanshew, Noel Hanshew, Gavin Hanshew, and Nicolas Henshew.

Fidel was preceded in death by parents Martin Fidel Matassa and Ana Deboli Matassa, his wife Juana Emilia Urnizius Matassa, his sister Catalina Isabel Flores and granddaughter Gabriela Gregory.

A Service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday 19, 2023 at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 S. Main St., Keller, TX 76248.
