Florence Bailey

February 9, 1935 — October 8, 2015

Florence Bailey passed away peacefully on October 8, 2015 in Sentinel, Oklahoma with her family by her side. She departed this life one year, to the day, from the burial of her husband Alton Bailey at the age of 80.

Visitation: The family will greet guests from 6 to 8 pm on Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine. Service: 1:00 pm Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine. Interment will follow at Historic Grapevine Cemetery.

Florence was born on February 9, 1935 in LaGrange, Georgia and lived there until health concerns necessitated her moving to Texas where her children were. Florence and Alton lived in Irving, Texas and also in Sentinel, Oklahoma with their son Mark and daughter in law Janice Bailey.

Florence was a faithful member of the body of Christ, at the Murphy Avenue church of Christ in LaGrange, Georgia before moving to Irving, Texas a few years ago. She loved the Lord’s church and would work day and night to be “a servant of the church” (Romans 16:1). Once in this area she attended the Grapevine congregation and also North Texas congregation. When Mark and Janice moved her to Sentinel Oklahoma she attended that congregation when her health permitted it.

She was preceded in passing by her husband, Alton Bailey; parents, E.H. Miller and Zona Bell Miller; sister, Louise Bowen; and brother, Raymond Miller.

She is survived by her three sons and one daughter, Alton Bruce Bailey Jr. and wife Tonya, William Mark Bailey and wife Janice, Charles Allen Bailey and wife Suzanne, and Mary (Bailey) Reid and husband Randy; and grandchildren: Lauren, Trace, Victoria, Daniel, Phillip, Levi, Luke, Logan, Olivia, Wayne and Charity.
