HURST -- Florene Mitchell Reese, 84, passed away October 2, 2015.
The life of Florene Mitchell Reese will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3rd at 3:00 in the afternoon at North Richland Hills Baptist Church, 6955 Boulevard 26, North Richland Hills, Texas 76180. Her pastor, Scott Maze, will officiate. Visitation will be immediately after the service. Graveside service, led by Jimmy Rogers, will be on Sunday, October 4th at 2:00 in Knox City, Texas.
Florene was born on February 19, 1931, in Tynan, Texas, to Wayne and Carrie Mitchell. Her family moved to Munday, Texas. It was here that she surrendered her life to Jesus, followed by baptism at First Baptist Church, Knox City. She graduated from Munday High School in 1948 and married Charles James Reese on May 28 of that year. He preceded her in death in 1974. Florene was a homemaker and she and Charles were parents to 3 daughters, Susan, Mary and Debbie.
Florene's life was filled with ministering to others. She served as a teacher to preschoolers in Sunday School for over 50 years. She not only actively shared her faith but was instrumental in teaching children the importance of doing the same through GAs, Sunbeams and Vacation Bible School. Florene was known for sharing baked goods, flowers and notes of encouragement with family and friends. Her life also reflected a grateful heart, incredible faith and genuine friendships with people of all ages.
She was preceded in death by her brother Lloyd Mitchell.
Florene Reese is survived by Susan and Bob Ward, Mary & Mike Jordan, Debbie & Jerry Stamps; grandchildren Doug & Anglea Stamps, Reesa & Brian McFarlin, Greg & Becky Stamps, Jami & Brian Hurst, Cody & Natalie Brown, and Josh & Laura Brown; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Brown, Abby Stamps, Charlie Stamps, Reese Stamps, Landry Stamps, Wesley Hurst, Jordan McFarlin, Colson Stamps, Mitchell McFarlin and Ellie Reese Brown; sister-in-law Rosa Mitchell; nieces and nephews.
Her six grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Better Together at North Richland Hills Baptist Church or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center – Houston.
