It is with great sadness that the family of Frances “Fran” Guvernator announces that she went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2019, at the age of 88. Fran’s sharp wit, boundless generosity, love of her family and famous lasagna will be greatly missed.
Fran was born in Binghamton, New York, and spent her life doing what she did best as a wife, mother and homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Jim Guvernator, her twin sister, Phyllis Mulligan, her son, Eric Guvernator and his wife Mary Peacock Guvernator, as well as two daughters, Ginny Ishaq and Julie Guvernator. She was preceded in death by her brother Don Brooks and son Don Guvernator. Fran also enjoyed the love of her grandson, David Guvernator, granddaughters Katie and Grace Guvernator and Christina Ishaq, and her great granddaughter Caroline Chessor.
In addition to her family, Fran loved animals and could never turn away a stray. She made sure the birds and squirrels in her yard were fed, no doubt with organic seeds and nuts. Although she wasn’t crazy about flying, she was fortunate to have traveled with Jim to many parts of the globe, including Japan, Saudi Arabia, England, Hong Kong, Africa and Spain.
A graveside service will be held at Lonesome Dover Cemetery located at 2380 Lonesome Dover Road, Southlake, Texas, on Tuesday, October 29th at 11:00 am. Fran was fond of saying, “Don’t stand on ceremony,” so dress casually; striped t-shirts are optional. Afterwards, family and friends will gather to celebrate Fran’s life at Farina’s Restaurant located at 420 S. Main Street in downtown Grapevine.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to your local Humane Society or SPCA in her name would be a wonderful tribute. And in the future, when you think of Fran, smile, put on a blue and white striped t-shirt and “eat a nice peach.”
