Frances Yarbrough Wythe

May 18, 1929 — January 10, 2021

Ola Frances Yarbrough was born to Marvin C. and Bessie Ann Yarbrough May 18, 1929, in Ponder, Texas. She was the youngest of seven siblings. After completing Ponder schools she attended North Texas State College and graduated with a BBA degree. She taught high school in west Texas, then moved to Dallas, working downtown as a secretary for several companies.
There, she attended Skillman Avenue Church of Christ and joined a chorus singing gospel songs Sunday mornings on KRLD. She enjoyed singing all her life and taught herself to play the piano using hymn books.
In the Spring of 1954, she traveled to College Station for a blind date with an Aggie. After arriving by train, she was introduced to Doug Wythe and the rest is history. Frances and Doug married November 19,1955, in Dallas and resided in Amarillo. Then they moved to College Station where Doug worked as an Animal Science professor at Texas A&M and they raised their three children.
Frances worked at The Association of Former Students and later as secretary of the A&M Church of Christ. She taught children’s Bible classes for many years. Frances was continually involved in her children’s 4-H, sports, and Church activities. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed traveling with Doug to livestock shows he judged.
Her legacy lives on as a beautiful example of a Christian Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Frances gained her victory and for that we rejoice, take comfort, and find peace.
She is survived by her son, Stephen and wife Fran, daughter, Margaret Miller and husband John, daughter, Rebecca Engram and husband Barry, 7 grandchildren, Stephanie and Catherine Wythe, Julie and Courtney Miller, Amanda Engram, Andrew Engram and wife Bri, Audrey Hall and husband Mark and 2 great grandchildren, Lois and Odin Hall.
A family graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 13th at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Argyle.
The family requests that memorials be made to: Brown Trail School of Preaching, PO Box 210667 Bedford, TX 76095; or to the Cherokee Home for Children, PO Box 295 Cherokee, TX 76832.
