Francis “Jerry” Schneider was born May 11, 1942 in Covington, Kentucky to the late Adeline (née Born) Schneider and Richard G. Schneider. He passed away peacefully at his home at the Rosewood Assisted Living Center on December 26, 2023 at the age of 81 years old.
Jerry started his own business in 1980 as the neighborhood appliance repairman in NW Houston after decades working for Whirlpool Corp. He had thousands of repeat customers because he was known as a businessman with integrity. If he could, he would even diagnose and fix an appliance over the phone for free. He built a world around good customer service and greeting everyone he met with a smile and a wave. He was immensely loving, protective and loyal to his family and was known to us for his giant JerBear hugs. As a father, he enjoyed coaching baseball and softball, fishing, and later cheering on and playing games with grandkids. One of his favorite accomplishments was getting his solo pilot license.
In recent years, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. While this disease took away his memory and ability to care for himself, he continued his gentle loving nature and greeted everyone at the Rosewood Assisted Living Center with a hug and a kiss. We are so grateful for the love he received there in return during this last year. While he was a successful small businessman, his greatest lesson to have given his family is to share love whether that be through a silly moment to generate a laugh or a hug. We are comforted to know that he is with our mother, the love of his life, sharing a hug, a kiss and a good laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Barbara Jean and their son Guy Schneider. He is survived by his children, Holly Ross and husband Denny Ross of Jacksonville, FL and Penny Apollaro and husband Tony Apollaro of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Madeleine Ross, Lauren Apollaro, Olivia Ross, Abby Schneider, Anthony Apollaro, Sophia Ross and Jack Apollaro.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Friday, January 5, 2024 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church located at 5201 Cross Timbers Rd., Flower Mound, TX 75022 with Father McDaniel presiding.
