Frankie Hennington

March 4, 1949 — December 10, 2024

Frankie Herrick Hennington passed away on December 10, 2024, in Keller, Texas. Born on March 4, 1949, in Lubbock, Texas, she captivated hearts throughout her life with her unwavering passion for teaching and her radiant spirit.

As a lifelong elementary educator, Frankie shaped the lives of numerous young learners, earning her a well-deserved place in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. It was a nomination from one of her adoring students that recognized her dedication and hard work, a testament to the profound impact she had on those around her. Frankie’s classroom was a sanctuary of learning, where creativity flourished and each child felt valued.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Frankie had a zest for life that was delightfully reflected in her love for ice cream, which she humorously considered its own food group. She found joy in the simple pleasures—gardening, embarking on adventures, engaging in shopping excursions, and nurturing her bond as a devoted sister.

Frankie was an active member of the Church of Christ and held her faith close to her heart. She was proud of the moral and ethical values she instilled in both her personal life and her teaching.

Frankie is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Bonita Herrick, and her sisters, Joan Sumners Lee, Ann Herrick, and Gail Mullican. She shared a deep connection with her family that shaped her values and provided endless support throughout her journey.

Frankie is survived by her lifelong partner Roger Andrews; her son John "Brian" Hennington (Jordan) and their children Chase and Brady; her nephew John "Russ" Rhoades; her niece Carla Hensler (David) and daughter AbbyGail Barker (Ryan), and their children Fable and Mickey; her niece Amy Stringer (Steve), and her children Logan and Tucker; her nephew William "Chip" Ward (Maureen) and daughter Maeve; her nephew Troy Ward (Brittany) and their children Barrett and Scarlett; her brother and sister-in-law Roy and Glenda Ward, and her beloved Chandler family. Frankie also had numerous close friends that became her chosen family that she also leaves behind.

Her memory will be celebrated in a series of services beginning with visitation on December 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, held at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas. Afterward, a gathering for food and fellowship will take place at 12305 Macaroon Lane, Fort Worth, Texas, at 3:30 PM. Frankie will be laid to rest during a graveside service on December 18, 2024, at Elmwood Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas, at 1:00 PM.

Frankie's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her laughter, her love for teaching, and her unwavering spirit will be dearly missed.
