Franklin Lee Cox

Franklin Lee Cox, of Colleyville, Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at home. He was born on January 10, 1937 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Charles Edward and Ethel Mae Cox.
On January 10, 1955, his eighteenth birthday, he joined the Air Force and served as an Aircraft Mechanic for 14 years of his life. He served two tours overseas during the Vietnam War. During this time, he met and married Bessie Lena Hamm on June 4, 1958 and they had two children. After leaving the Air Force in 1969, he worked as a Machinist for the rest of his working career. One part he was responsible for and was particularly proud of was a part that was used on the Space Shuttle.
Wood working was his favorite hobby. He made his wife Bessie a beautiful bedroom suite and numerous other cherished furniture pieces. Each piece was made from a place of his love for family. He also had a way of telling stories about his life or family history that never got old or boring and showed how important family was to him. He loved the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He loved music and singing. It didn’t matter where he was, working in his barn or house, or even in the store or hospital, there was usually a song that he would be singing. He had a gentle wit about him that would bring a smile or laughter even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Franklin is survived by, his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Carmen Cox of Weatherford, Texas, his daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Roy Duty of Watauga, Texas, grandchildren, Tracy Cox and wife Megan of Fort Worth, Texas, Terica Brackett of Weatherford, Texas, Heather Brackett of Huntsville, Alabama and Christopher Cox and wife Brooke of Azle, Texas, numerous grandchildren and a long list of nieces and nephews he dearly loved. He is also survived by his Grand dogs, Chance Cox and Baxter Duty, of which he requested they be named. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Bessie Lena Cox, Granddaughter, Randi Brackett of Watauga, Texas, his parents and numerous siblings.
