Gary Crossland passed away at his home in Fort Worth, Texas on January 2, 2019. Born Gary Clyde Crossland in Amarillo, Texas on October 8, 1947 to Gideon Clay and Mable Leora Crossland. Gary grew up in Pampa, Texas and graduated from Pampa High School in 1966. He had an enduring love for sports, lettering in both Basketball and Track, and upon last checking still held the Pampa High School Broad Jump record. Gary went on to graduate from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, in 1970 with a BBA Degree. While attending Southwest Texas, Gary was elected Varsity Cheerleader, class Vice-President and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Upon graduation, Gary moved to Houston to work for Southwestern Bell as a junior executive and later moved to Fort Worth where he met and married Doris Folksman in 1976. During Gary’s career, he worked for 24 years as a National Director of Sales, for a property tax firm. In the latter part of his career, Gary served as the Director of Marketing, for a consulting firm. Gary had many passions, one of them being the Texas Longhorns. During the fall, you could find Gary watching a University Texas Football game, cheering on his beloved Longhorns.
Gary was a loving son, brother, husband, father and remained especially close to his Pampa High School Classmates. He is survived by his wife Doris Crossland, brother Clay, and wife Linda Crossland, children Elizabeth Hall and Robert Dale Blackwell, sister-in-law Rose Snyder, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICE: Arrangements will be at Lucas Funeral Home, located at 1321 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 12 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Parkinson Disease Association, would be deeply appreciated.
