Our fun and loving son, nephew, grandson and friend Gary Scott Fraser was born December 17, 1971 and took his own life at 47 years old. Gary was kind, generous, funny and outgoing and his personality and smile will be forever missed. He loved his family and his friends more than anything.
Gary’s love for golf started at the age of 8 when his Dad and Grandfather Sculthorpe took him on many golf outings. His love for the game continued until the day he left this world as he golfed his last game on Friday, August 9th with hockey buddies.
He graduated in 1990 from Northwest High School where he made lifelong friendships that he cherished until his last breath. Through various jobs, moves to different states/cities and different stages of life Gary made friends and those friendships were very important to him. His love and loyalty ran deep.
Gary’s sense of humor was evident in his love of old Seinfeld episodes and his disdain for Ohio State fans. His true loves in life were his family, his friends, his dog Mei, his beloved Detroit Red Wings and University of Michigan football!
Gary’s love for his family was so important to him and he is survived by his parents, Gary Sr. and Paula, sister, Kelly; Grandma Fraser; Uncles and Aunts Craig and Mary Kay Fraser, Cathy Carroll, Lynn and Bob Langford, Doug Sculthorpe, Laura Sculthorpe and Tommy and Donna Sculthorpe; cousins David, Abby, Brad, Colleen, Tommy-John, Amanda and Garrett; and last and certainly not least his beloved dog Mei and countless friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his Grandparents Tom and Alice Sculthorpe, Charles Fraser, Great Grandmothers Perreault and Great Grandmother Sculthorpe and Great Aunt Mary Socall.
Gary’s death is unexplainable and his pain must have been unbearable. He’s at rest and his pain is no more. His death is a reminder to us all that if any one threatens suicide, talk to them, share it with their family and look for ways to get them help.
