He was born August 19, 1947, in Houston, to Franklin Eugene and Janie Boles Meador. Gary graduated from Burleson High School in 1967. Gary married Joyce Doggett on June 22, 1968, and they were happily married for 54 years.
Gary got drafted during the Vietnam Conflict, and left to serve his country on January 28, 1969. He served for 15 years before he was medically discharged in 1984. He served 3 tours of duty in Germany, and worked in the Pershing Missile System during the Cold War.
After he retired from the Army, he used his GI Bill to finish college at Cameron University, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He did reenactments with the Sons of the Confederacy and Terry Texas Rangers. He also did reenactments with the gun fighters during Founder’s Day in Burleson. He was known as the “watcher” on Lynne Lane, and wanted to keep all the neighbors safe. He was always on the lookout for lost animals that needed help. “Love your neighbors the same as you love yourself.” Mark 12:31.
