We are heartbroken to announce that Gary Lee Miller, 74, passed away at home on May 18, 2023, in Joshua, TX. He was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on September 24, 1948 to Betty Jane Miller (nee Grove) and Harvey Samuel Miller.
Gary grew up in Chambersburg and New Franklin, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, Gary proudly served in the Army and was stationed in Germany from 1967-1970. Returning to the States, he was employed by multiple government agencies including the CIA, the Social Security Administration, and TSA, from which he retired in 2011. He enjoyed keeping his brain sharp, and was most recently employed by the Johnson County Appraisal Review Board.
Gary was a man of many talents and interests. He was active in Toastmasters International for many years. He earned the Distinguished Toastmaster Award in 2021 - the highest level of educational achievement in Toastmasters an individual can obtain. He was also a member of the Open Door Church in Burleson, TX and was a faithful volunteer at the Open Door Food Bank.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Miller. He is also survived by his sister Shirley (Richard) Henry, his children Benjamin (Veronica) Miller, Christine (Matthew) Filippelli, Daniel (Molly) Miller, step-son Perry Partlow, Jr.(Candace), and 11 grandchildren - Audrey, Charles & Emma Miller, Lucy & Penelope Filippelli, Harvi & Wilder Miller, Ariana and Julian Partlow.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at the Open Door Church, located at 301 S Dobson, Burleson, TX 76028, on May 30, 2023, at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Happy Hill Farm here:
