Norma Gay Joyner, 92, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017 surrounded by her children.
Memorial Service: 11 am Friday at First United Methodist Church of Ft. Worth in the Leonard Memorial Chapel.
Memorials: May be made to the FUMC Ft. Worth Infant Formula Program or charity of your choice.
Born in Ft. Worth, Texas, she was the oldest of four children. She attended Carter Riverside High School where she met her husband, Hubert. She was a student at TCU before they married on May 3, 1947. They were charter members of Diamond Oaks Country Club and played golf there until they were 89. She was treasurer of DOLGA for 25 years and was honored for these years of service at a reception. While raising three children she worked as a part time office bookkeeper for Lloyd Mooreʼs Dairy Queens. For many years she enjoyed volunteering in the FUMC Ft. Worth Infant Formula Program. Her pride and joy was her family who all loved her dearly. She was affectionately known as “Momma Gay” by her loved ones and their friends.
She was preceded in death by Hubert, her husband of 68 years, brothers Lawrence D. White and I.B. White, and sister, Shirley Wright.
Survivors: Son, Ben Joyner; daughters, Jan Grant and husband Jimmy and Carol Howe and husband Mark; grandchildren, Lindsay and Ben Harrison, Bart and Olivia Howe, Amy and Danny Montemayor, Scott and Katie Grant, Matt and Sandy Howe, Bryan and Lauren Grant and Brooke Joyner; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Ty and Dylan Harrison, Rilee and Taylor Montemayor, Anson and Evelyn Howe and Easton Grant.
