Gene Doyle Lee of Bedford, Texas 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 12:15 just days short of his 80th birthday from a brain aneurysm.
Gene will forever more be remembered as a business owner and avid fisherman. Born on February 24, 1938, he grew up in the North Side area of Fort Worth during a times when the stockyards were in full swing. His father (Willie Raymond Lee) was a foreman of the yards. While growing up, Gene attended Diamond Hill Jarvis High School and was active in football. In 1965, Gene joined the Navy and received the rank of Yoeman aboard the USS Lexington. The ship is now anchored in Corpus Christi, Texas. After the Navy, he became an electrician with the IBEW and later co-owned Gallman-Lee Electric providing electrical services throughout Fort Worth. Gene retired prior to the turn of the century to enjoy his passion for fishing on Cedar Creek Lake with his friend Bill Williams of Hurst, Texas and his hobbies with woodworking.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Willie Raymond Lee of Fort Worth, Texas; his mother, Rosie Belle Lee of Fort Worth, Texas; his Brother, Kenneth Ray Lee of Euless, Texas; his Sister, Evelyn Raichley of Seattle, Washington.
He is survived by his wife, Linnea Lou Lee of 57 years; his son, Greg Lee and his wife Lisa Lee of Azle, Texas; two daughters Gina Day and her husband Darryl Day of Bedford, Texas; Gwen Powell and her husband Andy Powell of Vancouver, Washington; a sister-in-law, Darla Walker of Aledo, Texas; two grandsons, Gregory Lee and his wife Sarah Lee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a grandson Misha Lee of Azle, Texas; a grandson Dawson Pepin; granddaughter Dani Shea Pepin; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, Texas on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, Texas.
Burial will be at the Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Grapevine/Colleyville, Texas, February 17, 2018 following the funeral services.
His family wishes to express the care and compassion shown by all of the Doctors and Nursing staff in the Harris Methodist Hospital, Fort Worth Neuro Intensive Care Ward and Community Hospice Care of Fort Worth during his final days.
