George Walter McElroy, 90, passed away peacefully and went home to the Lord the morning of December 31, 2015. A true Christian, his first love was his faith and then his family. He especially loved and adored his wife Jan, the true love of his life. He was a man that never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. Always cheerful and merry – sometimes he would greet people with “Top of the morning to you” in his funny Scottish accent style.
A World War II veteran and a native of Dallas, Texas, he began his career after attending SMU. He worked with Mobil Oil Company. In the 1960’s, he became a partner at Webb B. Cooley, Jr. & Company. In 1974, he opened his own real estate property tax consulting firm, George McElroy & Associates. After his retirement in 1995, his company is still in operation today. George also had a passionate love for sports, especially baseball, golf and football.
George touched so many lives over the past 90 years with his faith, life experiences and wisdom. As a Christian, husband, father, grandfather and friend he truly will be missed. We praise and are glorified that he is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Multi-Purpose Center of Stonebriar Community Church, 4801 Legendary Drive, Frisco, TX 75034.
