“Till death do us part." George Hathaway Poulsen, born in Toledo, Ohio, June 27, 1940, was married to Nancy for 61 years. George is survived by his wife and beloved family: daughter, Cynthia Lynn Fucsko and husband Louis Fucsko; son, George Christian Poulsen and wife, Katherine Ballard Poulsen, parents of grandchildren Nicholas McLay Poulsen and Devon Diane Poulsen; sister, Patricia Susan Seeds, of Oconomowoc, WI; stepsister, Marion Suzanne Kline Fiore, of Westport, CT, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
George had a zest for life, an endless curiosity, and was a proverbial problem solver. Everything he did he did for the love of his family - anything to improve their lives, to help in any way he could. He always had a pet to love - and always one in need of a good and loving home. He had endless interests in life including rv-ing, boating, woodworking, gardening, home maintenance and its endless challenges. There was nothing like a good mechanical problem to analyze and resolve!
George’s basic education began in Toledo, OH, and Sarasota, FL. At 14, George enrolled in Howe Military Academy in Howe, IN, where he attended classes for two years after which his family moved to Westport, CT, where he completed his final two years of high school—and met the love of his life, Nancy Jane Kerr. Upon graduation from high school, George spent four years at Michigan State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1961. Upon college graduation, George enlisted in the United States Air Force, completed Officer Training School, married Nancy, and embarked on a military career as a Supply Officer at Ellsworth A.F.B. in Rapid City, SD. George left the service in 1967 to begin a business management career with Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI, followed by many years with Arco Oil and Gas Company in Dallas, TX, Anchorage, AK, Tulsa, OK, and again in Dallas. Upon retiring from Arco, George chose to accept an offer from Bank One where he continued in business management for a few more years. Now officially retired, George enjoyed woodworking and home projects, volunteering for the Tarrant County Appraisal District—but his real love was the talent he discovered in himself for investing. It both challenged and satisfied his analytical side—particularly when it brought rewards.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George Henry Harold Poulsen and Janet Thompson Poulsen Kline, and sister, Janet Nan Poulsen, stepbrother, Charles T. Kline. George had family and friends who loved him dearly and will feel his loss for some time to come.
Thank you, my love, for making our lives so wondrous and beautiful. We always had a principle to leave something better than we found it—and you truly did in every way. There will never be a day we don’t miss you. Love from all of us forever…
