GRAPEVINE -- George Raymond Riddle joined his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
Service: Military graveside service at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St. in Grapevine.
Memorials: You may honor his memory with a donation to Bread for a Hungry World or Christ's Haven For Children.
George was born Aug. 19, 1923, in Indiana, Pa., to Arley Wilbur Riddle Sr. and Zillah Edith Stuchell. One month after Pearl Harbor, he and his brother volunteered for military service. After 31 months overseas, George was stationed in Fort Worth where he met his future bride, Pat Nimmo. George went to work as a mechanic for his in-laws and eventually owned and operated Riddle Automotive Repair. George was known for "fixin' any vehicle with wheels," his honesty and hard work.
George led a life of service. He could have been a Thessalonian . . . "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands."
George and Pat were charter members of The Richland Hills Church of Christ (The Hills), where he was a deacon for over 25 years. After retiring he volunteered at the Community Outreach Center well into his 80s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arley Wilbur Riddle Sr. and Zillah Edith Stuchell; stepfather, Robert T. Johnston; brother, Arley Wilbur Riddle Jr.; and grandson, Haley G. Howard.
Survivors: His loving wife of over 70 years, Pat Riddle; daughter, Patricia Rose and husband, Robert; son, Mark Riddle and wife, Vickie; daughter, Glenna Wright and husband, Greg; daughter, Robin Keeble and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Heather Enochson, Cory Howard and wife, Trish, Tracy Howard, Renee Riddle, Matthew Riddle and wife, Pamela, Ian Keeble, Geddy Keeble; great-grandchildren, Blake Howard and wife, C.J., Alexa Howard; along with nephews, nieces, cousins and so many who were "like" family.
