George was a Christian, a husband, a dad, and a papa. He cherished and loved his wife, Mary, like Christ loved the church. As a father of three sons, he was their hero and a tremendous example of what type of men they should be. Anyone who knew him would know he seldom lacked a smile, always encouraging and pointing others towards Christ. A simple, humble man willing to sacrifice anything for others. George served his country in the Vietnam war as a U.S. Army Captain and helicopter pilot. He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing bridge and was an avid sports fan, especially Texas A&M football and Texas Rangers baseball. In the end, he fought his illness like a warrior for nearly 8 years before his last breath surrounded by those he treasured most. George is preceded in passing by his mother, Thelma Young; father, George Young and sister, Juanita Bowers.
