Georgia Nelle Parkey was born January 30, 1936 on the Parkey Homestead in the Randolph Community near Paoli, Oklahoma. She was the eighth and youngest child of Olen and Fay (Randolph) Parkey. She graduated from Woodland High School in Oklahoma in 1953. After many years of employment, she retired from Southwestern Petroleum in Fort Worth, Texas. Her love for the Lord and church made work opportunities arise that she truly enjoyed. After high school she evangelized with her brother, W.C Parkey, for several years. Their revivals consisted of numerous churches in Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. He preached and they sang together. She also would play her upright bass fiddle. She was the church secretary at the Way of Life Church in Hurst, Texas for thirty years. She was also a faithful member at Way of Life Church up to her passing.
She loved and was loved by her siblings and their spouses, as well as her many nieces and nephews and beyond. Everyone loved “Aunt Georgia”, “Sister Georgia” or “Georgia Nelle”. You could feel that she loved back. She was proud of her family heritage as a member of the Chickasaw Nation.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Olen Parkey Sr and Nellie Fay Randolph Parkey. Her siblings: Rachel Webster, Betty Mildred Parkey, Naomi Luce, Hazel Ayers, Mary Boren, Robert (Bob) Parkey Jr., and William (W.C) Parkey.
Survived by: Sister-in-law, Betty Parkey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her brother, W.C Parkey wrote these words about Georgia a few years ago before his passing. “I shall forever be thankful to God for my “baby sister”. Since she is the only one of the Parkey siblings left, except me, I am especially grateful for her faithfulness and dedication to God as I am for her kindness and encouragement to me. I am looking forward to the reunion of the Parkey family in the place where the circle will not be broken….” The circle is now complete.
