Gerald Thomas Burkhart was born on March 25, 1957 and passed away on his birthday Monday, March 25, 2024.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife Kimberly. He leaves behind his beloved niece Mikki Bailey and fiancé, Joey. He referred to Mikki as his only child, due to their close relationship her entire life.
Jerry also leaves behind his 2 step-children Christopher Rogers and April Zajac, and his adored 4 grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved parents Major Gerald M. and Noreen Burkhart of Alvarado, TX. He also was preceded in death by his step-son, A. Gator Alexander, who passed in a car accident recently. He has been Kimberly's rock, during a deep grieving period the past few months.
In addition, Jerry is survived by siblings, Mike, and Maureen. Survived by nephews and niece Cody Bailey (Christina), Amanda Bailey, Cooper Bailey and Christopher Burkhart. He also leaves behind many beloved family members of Burkhart's and O'Donnell's in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Jerry graduated from Alvarado High School in 1975. Jerry excelled in academics, sports and friendships. Jerry could build a house, computer or car without instruction. He was good at everything he did throughout his life. Jerry had a very funny sense of humor and was always the life of the party. His true joy in life was to help others, never hesitating to lend a hand to friends, family and Alvarado locals. He will be dearly missed and remembered by many people. Jerry had high morals and manners; he credits his mother for these traits. His favorite statement was "My mother was the greatest woman I have ever known." Noreen O'Donnell Burkhart was waiting in heaven for Jerry, along with all of the adored dogs he has lost over the years. Jerry was very content and happy his final years on earth. May he rest in peace until we can meet again. Amen.
