Gerald and his family were lifelong residents of the Wichita Falls area. He was a salesman with American Greetings Corporation and a routeman with Cochran News Agency. Gerald made many lifelong friends on his routes and always enjoyed visiting with people.
Gerald married Doris Day (Wright), the love of his life, in 1960, who survives him. He is also survived by son Leland Wright and wife Rhonda of Lakeside City, Texas, son James Wright and wife Cindy of Keller, Texas, sister Wanda Mayes of Wichita Falls, niece Tracy Youngblood and husband Curt of Scotland, Texas, granddaughter Jordan Moser and husband Brendan of Lakeside City, Texas, granddaughter Jennifer Wright of Wichita Falls, Texas, grandson Chad Brooks of Richmond, Virginia, grandson Hank Wright of Keller, Texas, granddaughter Destiny Wright of Keller, Texas, and great-grandson Shepard Moser of Lakeside City, Texas. He was unable to play sports in high school due to health reasons, but he lived out his sports dreams through his sons and grandkids. He would volunteer to run the chains at his sons’ football games just to be closer to the action. Gerald even tried his hand at coaching a football team when his boys were young even though he knew absolutely nothing about football. He never missed a game and he was their biggest fan. Gerald was loved by many, many people and he will truly be missed.
