BEDFORD -- Gilbert Blake, 88, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2016.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst.

Gilbert was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Texico, N.M. He was the oldest child of John and Gladys Blake. He was in the U.S. Air Force. His career was accounting and later real estate. He used his accounting background by volunteering with several groups, including church, Lions Club and Boy Scouts (Troop 332, Hurst).
He enjoyed his friends and the staff at Heartland, where he lived for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sue Blake; parents, John and Gladys Blake; and four sisters, "Pepper" Parmer, Louise Janes, Bobbye McDonald and Joyce Thompson.
Survivors: Daughter, Kim Blake; grandsons, Tim Grisham (Bethany), James Grisham (Jem); son, David (Kristin); grandson, Dalton Genat; sisters, Ida Hallmark and Patricia Younts; brother, Johnny Blake (Debbie); and several nieces and nephews.
