Gordon Florenz Rydell, 80, of Hurst went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
Visitation: Thursday, 6-8 p.m., Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst; Service: Friday, 2:00 p.m. at the Lucas Funeral Home Chapel in Hurst with burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Gordon was born on November 21, 1936 in Taylor, TX to Carl Hugo and Dorothy Bohls Rydell. On May 8, 1965 he married the former Margie Andrews of Georgetown.
Gordon grew up farming in Hutto, Texas before moving to Georgetown to begin ranching for the next fifteen years until accepting a position with the Texas Railroad Commission as an LP Gas Inspector and moving to Victoria, TX.
He truly enjoyed and shared his love of the country life and ranching with his two children. In 2000 he would retire from the Texas Railroad Commission. But he did not fully retire; he and his wife began a successful company, Talco Specialties, named after his children “Todd and Lisa’s Company.” He was involved with this business up until his death. Later in life, he and Margie moved from Victoria, Texas to be nearer his son and family in Hurst, Texas. Gordon was very creative; his mind was always going, trying to come up with the latest and greatest tool. One of these he received a patent for. The Cylinder Clincher continues to be a big success in the LP Gas Industry. Gordon was just a good ole’ fun loving simple guy who loved his family. He loved to talk to just about anyone who would listen, and if you are in Hurst you probably talked with him at least once.
Mr. Rydell was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Margie; son Todd and his wife Lesa; daughter Lisa and her husband Rob Shelby; grandchildren Ella, Tristan and Ava; Brother Rodney Rydell; Sister Karen Marosko; cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
