Gori Sila Obituary
Gori Sila was born to Joti and Llamba Sila on May 9, 1937 in Kadipashaj, Lushnje, Albania. He and his twin brother were the youngest of eight children. Gori’s father died when he was 7. Even though he grew up with a single mom most of his life, Gori had a strong foundation of love, hard work, patriotism, integrity, and diligence. When Gori completed his training to be a master mechanic and engineer with honors, he moved to Fier to work in the new chemical factory. He was able to move his mom and the rest of his siblings to the city. After working there for several years, he was transferred to work as an oilfield engineer. He was the main liaison with foreign professionals who came to Albania. His passion was to train and mentor the next generation of workers. He was very kind and patient with them and was well loved and respected. After a long and successful career, Gori retired in 1991.
He married Pulie Mone on July 25, 1965. They had their first daughter, Lindita, the next year. Mirela, Etleva, and Leonard came along in the ensuing years. Due to their hard work throughout the time of Communism in Albania, they were able to provide a happy and comfortable life for their family.
Gori and Pulie immigrated to the United States in 2006, and they both became U.S. citizens in 2013.
Gori passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 8, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pulie; daughter Lindita, Nikollaq, Nili, and Kevin Karaj of Kennesaw, Georgia; daughter Mirela, Vilson, Nikolin, and Lindsey Kordhishti and Arjola, Spiro, Christopher, and Henry Naco of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; daughter Etleva (Eva), Lawrence, Daniel, and Jonathan Duhon of Fort Worth, Texas; and son Leonard, Nevila, Polikseni, and Patrick Sila of Fort Worth, Texas along with many dear friends, nephews, and nieces.
