Graydon Kennedy Wall, also lovingly known as Dad or Papa, was born in Montpelier, Vermont, on August 10, 1955, to Frank and Mercedes Wall. Peacefully, he went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2023, at age 68, following a six-month battle with brain cancer and leptomeningeal disease. He was at home, surrounded by his beloved family and wearing his favorite white v-neck t-shirt.
From childhood, Graydon had a deep affinity for both the outdoors and hard work, two joys that would become threadlines throughout his life. He met and married his lifetime sweetheart, Diane, while serving in the U.S. Army, during which they both also came to know Christ as their savior. With a new faith, new marriage, a few clothes, $300, and a record player, they began a life together. Their faith in Christ became the foundation of their home, a lamp for how they would live, parent, work, and love those around them.
With his penchant for mechanics and a determined desire to provide for a growing family, Graydon spent much of his life working with cars. Following a 20-year career with Mercedes-Benz Motors, he enjoyed 16 years as a local franchise owner of Christian Brothers Automotive, where he served over 25,000 customers, including annual events to help single mothers in the area. As much as Graydon enjoyed serving others in work and church, he found the deepest joy and respite with his family, watching movies, grilling favorite meats, or camping and fishing in the outdoors.
Graydon is survived by his loving wife and favorite person of 47 years, Diane; their six children, Bethany (Mark) Douglass, Joshua (Bethany) Wall, Jordan (Christa) Wall, Joseph (Kayla) Wall, Kristen (Tim) Douglass, and David (Kara Beth) Wall; and 17 grandchildren, Liam, Burke, Sarabeth, Blythe, Anabelle, Reese, Olive, Rowan, Shepherd, Adelyn, Brighten, Ava, Brayden, Wren, Abraham, Solomon, and Lily Joy. He is also survived by three siblings, Steven Wall, Benjamin Wall, and Anne Wall, and several loving inlaws, nieces, and nephews. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all.
