Gregory Scott Barnes

July 30, 1963 — December 8, 2023

Gregory, of Haslet, Texas, passed away on 8th of December in Fort Worth, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband survived by Kim of 31 years, father to Justin 31 years & Jordan 26 years, Grandfather to Athena of 4 years, Colleague, and Friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on July 1963, in North Carolina, to parents Odell Barnes Sr. (decease) and Clara Barnes (deceased). Greg had nine brothers, Odell Jr (deceased), Frankie (deceased), Ronnie, James (spouse Porter), Anthony, Steve, Gary, Larry (deceased) and Shawn.

Gregory lived a long and adventurous life. Serving 24 years in the United States Army and was a proud decorated Veteran. Greg met his wife of 31 years in Desert Storm. Greg served in several Wars and conflicts throughout his military career. He so enjoyed spending time with his boys and granddaughter. Greg worked in several position throughout his career, once retired from the military, he worked as a Tarrant Country Deputy Sheriff, then went on to work for the Dallas FBI which he so enjoyed. He had a love for the outdoors. He liked to take walks and absolutely loved his dogs (Senrab, Fender, Sophia, Maggie, Maya, Willo, Cola, Teddy, Peanut and Halo). His cats were Sypher, Dora and Koda. His dogs assisted him in his daily life. Gregory was one to always try to make light of a situation no matter how dark or how strenuous. He would laugh with you, sit with you or be an ear to listen. He ensured that no matter who you were or whether he knew you or not that you always had someone to confide in. Greg was a beacon for many in hard times and a light in good times. He led his life to show the path to many and strived to lay a path for his loved ones.

The visitation to commemorate Gregory Barnes will be held from 4:00pm – 6:00pm on December 15th ,
2023 at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 South Main St, Keller, TX 76248. We are asking that in help with
remembering the life led by Gregory Barnes that instead of flowers being donated for the service that a
donation is instead given to a Diabetic Foundation.
