Gregory T. Mccombs

January 26, 1949 — November 26, 2018

Gregory T. McCombs, age 69, died on Monday, November 26, 2018 at his home in Southlake, TX. From his birth in Madison, WI on January 26, 1949 to his death on Monday, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, playing/watching sports and his favorite local restaurants. He was born to Jack and Norma (Durner) McCombs and was the oldest of three children. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business – go Gators. He also served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War whereby he was honorably discharged after spending tours both stateside and overseas. At that time, he started his family and began his career in the financial services industry where he flourished throughout his entire career working for many of the finest mutual fund companies. His ability to connect with people, nourish relationships and an unparalleled drive for success helped him create an elaborate network and fulfill his passion to live the American dream. For those closest to Greg, we wish to share some of his latest great moments/experiences to help us remember the good times. He relished both his social and golf membership at Timarron Country Club where he was an active member. He also never missed a Sunday at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church where he was an active member for decades. Greg never missed an opportunity to enjoy dinner and cocktails with friends and family (his favorites being a cold Miller Lite, glass of Chardonnay, chips and salsa and bratwurst). Most of all, he truly enjoyed being in the company of family and friends.

Left to honor and remember Greg are his father, Jack; his four children and their families; Kevin and Mandi, Jenny and Kirk, Morgan, Griffin; his five grandchildren; Jules, Berklee, Kye, Sam, Caroline; his two sisters and their families, Pam and Billy, Rose and Charlie and many nieces and nephews. Greg was preceded in death by his mother, the matriarch of the McCombs family, Norma. A ceremony celebrating Greg’s life for family and close friends will be held privately in the coming weeks. As we close his chapter here on Earth, he would want for each of you to raise a glass and cheers to a good long life filled with happiness…and ask that you all be prepared to meet him in his ultimate resting place, Heaven. Please remember the good times and enjoy every waking moment, he always did.
