Henry Brooks Simmons

Henry Brooks “Grampy” Simmons, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 16, 2023 in Granbury, TX, while being comforted by his family.

Brooks was born to D.B. and Ora Simmons on July 28, 1936 in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was the youngest of 13 children, he grew up in New Boston, TX. After graduating high school he moved to Fort Worth to seek employment at T&P Railroad where he worked for 42 years before retiring. Brooks lived in Hurst for 60 years. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, TCU and all sports along with numerous other outdoor activities. He was most passionate about his family and friends and especially watching grandkids in school activities.

Brooks was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Jane Simmons; his mother, father, and 12 siblings.

Those left to cherish his memory: Son, Paul and wife Sherri; Daughters, Tammie and husband Jerry, Tina and husband John; Grandchildren, Justin Simmons and wife Amy, Josh Simmons and wife Lana, Ashley Dunlap and husband Phil, Jared Stone and wife Mandy, Jenna Marwitz and husband Stanton, Jaci Shelby and husband, Chase, Jake Llewellyn and wife Jayci, Neal Llewellyn and wife Courtney; and 18 Great-grandchildren.
