Henry Walter Sword Jr., husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 5, 2025, in Bedford, Texas. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina on February 19, 1940, to Henry Walter Sword Sr. and Maybell Sword.
Henry Walter married Roberta Marvine Stoneman on July 29th, 1961, and together they had two children, Pam and Hank.
Henry served in the military, both in the US Marine Corps and the Air Force. He went on to have a successful career in International Banking and Finance until he retired from Bank of America as a Senior Vice President in the late 1990’s. After retirement, he continued to work as an eCollege instructor writing curriculum and teaching courses in banking.
Henry volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Fort Worth serving children in the foster care system who had experienced abuse and neglect.
Throughout his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman that loved being outdoors with family and friends. On his East Texas property, he worked with other area landowners and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to set up a successful program to reintroduce Native Texas Turkeys to the area.
After the passing of his wife Marvine, Henry married Sandra Darby Weber and they shared six wonderful years together. The two enjoyed traveling, dining and spending time in each other's company.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, wife Marvine, brothers Charlie Cook, Claude Cook, Lawrence Cook, Rufus Cook, Lewis Sword and sister Frances Cook Murray.
He is survived by wife Sandra Sword, children Pam Sword-Taylor, Henry “Hank” Sword (Tina), grandchildren Mark C. Taylor II, Aaron C. Taylor, Spencer L. Sword, Lacy E. Sword, Paxton L. Sword (Aulora), great granddaughter Eden Wren Sword. He was also a well-loved and favorite Uncle Walt to numerous nieces and nephews.
A Local Service for Henry will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas on Wednesday January 15th at 2:00 pm.
Service will also be held at the First Baptist Church of Terral in Terral Oklahoma on Saturday January 18th at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Terral Cemetery.
