Hermina Cihacek joined her Mother (Rose), her Father (Jim), sisters, (Mary and Phyllis) and lifelong family friend, Caroline Goerlitz in heaven on March 20, 2021. She was born in Fort Worth on May 15, 1915. She was 105 years old when she died.
She was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of St George’s Parish. A career government worker, she worked for the Housing and Urban Development Dept. in Fort Worth and Washington D.C.
Hermina was a strong-willed woman (some might say stubborn), maintaining her home in Oakhurst and managing her affairs well into her second century.
She loved to travel with her sisters and family friend, Caroline. She visited many countries in Europe and loved the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island as well as touring Canada. They all took cruises long before the Cruise Lines became a thing.
Although she outlived all of her blood family, she has always been an integral part of the “Pekurney Village”, never spending a birthday, holiday or any special occasion alone. She is survived by her “Village” of Pekurneys, Millers, Walkers, Spilkers, Folvags, Foleys and Thompsons; approximately 40 people she loved and loved her.
She lived the best life she could for as long as she could. She will be missed by all.
Pall Bearers: Rod Pekurney, Kyle Pekurney, Greg Pekurney, Jeriahme Miller, Zach Walker and Lee Spilker.
