Herschell Morgan James Jr.

Herschell Morgan James Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2016 surrounded by family. Funeral Service 2:00 pm Friday, October 14, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine; burial at Grapevine Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine.

Herschell was born in 1933 to Herschell James Sr. and Cora Morrow James in Gainesville. He attended Sherman HS, before continuing on to Texas Tech University and receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. Herschell proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years before continuing on with his career at the US General Accountability Office for 11 years; and the Office of Inspector General Department of Health & Human Services for 19 years.

Herschell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean; brother, Preston James and wife, Eileen of Huntsville AL; sister, Minta Tencza and husband, Cas of Sherman; sons, Stephen Michael James and wife, Amber of Dallas, and Gregory Paul James and wife, Deborah of NRH; daughter, Shelley Annette James Cox and husband, David of Grapevine; grandchildren, Sydney, Kenneth, Kevin, Matthew, Rachel, Quinn, Sean Avery, and Serena; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Caiden; and many other family and friends.
