Holly Ann Chapman

November 8, 1975 — July 26, 2015

Holly came charging into this world 7 weeks early on November 8, 1975, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the second daughter born to Kimberly Knittel Chapman and Larry L. Chapman from Portsmouth, Ohio.
In 1980, Holly and her sister Heather moved to California with their Mom Kim. Holly loved the beach and the ocean. That love of the ocean and sea-life was broadened even more on her many trips to Florida with her Mom or Grandparents, David and Sara Knittel of Portsmouth, Ohio. Holly also loved her trips to Sea World in San Diego and was especially fond of the Dolphins.
Holly, her sister and Mom, with their pets in tow, moved to Bedford, Texas in 1990. Their mom Kim married Vernon Swiggett on January 1, 1991 and she got a new Dad, sister Emily and brother Scott.
Holly was an avid sports fan and started playing soccer at age 5. She was an exceptional goalie and with her short hair and skill, some opponents claimed she was a boy. Holly was always ready to prove them wrong and had to be stopped on several occasions. Later she gave up soccer to play fast-pitch softball year-round for many years, starting in Huntington Beach, California. and then with the Fort Worth Wildcats in Texas. Although she was a year younger than her teammates, she had a very strong arm and mostly played third base. Her ambitions were to play college softball and become an Animal Zoologist. Those dreams ended tragically when she had a massive stroke from a blood clot at age 19. Although many of her Doctors said she would never recover, after hospitalization and many years of therapy at Parkland Hospital, Holly was determined to walk and especially talk again. She slowly improved and ended up with a few speech problems and a paralyzed right arm. She struggled for years, but through it all was always the happy funny girl she was until her death.
She had a love she shared with children, especially her nephew Mikey and that even extended to the elderly with frequent visits to the Alzheimer home where her Grandmother Sara lived.
Holly never met a stranger. She wanted to be everyone's friend, and good or not, anyone that ever met her, never forgot her.
Holly is survived by her parents, Kim and Vernon Swiggett of Bedford, sisters Heather Chapman (Jerry Evans) of Bedford, and Emily (Rick) Patton of Enid, Oklahoma, brother Scott (Julia) Swiggett of Oklahoma City. Nieces Heather Patton of Houston and Breck Swiggett of Oklahoma City. Nephews Dustin Patton of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Riley Thompson and Bryce Patton of Enid and Mikey Chapman Evans of Bedford. She is also survived by her father Larry (Jerry) Chapman of Columbus, Ohio
