Howard Archie Ross entered his heavenly home on August 23, 2020.
Mr. Ross was born August 29, 1922 in Sylvester, TX to Alvie and Lucy Ross.
Mr. Ross served with the 8th Army Air Service. He entered the U.S. Army on December 21, 1942 and received his training at Camp Walters in Mineral Wells. From there, he took a troop train to Miami Beach, FL, then on to Santa Maria Air Base, CA, to prepare for overseas duty. He departed October 8, 1943, destination E.A.M.E. He arrived on October 18, 1943. He was assigned to 1906 Ammunition Company where he hauled all types of ammunition from depots to Air Bases throughout England. He drove over good and some extremely bad roads, through partial blackouts. He also serviced and worked on G.I. trucks. He departed England for the USA on December 9, 1945, arriving at Camp Fannin, TX on December 14, 1945. Mr. Ross was Honorably discharged on December 21, 1945. He received an E.A.M.E. Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Eveline Ross; grandchildren Donna Cherry and Kevin Kile; and great-grandson Arron Gomas. He is survived by daughter Mary and Jerry Wager of Granbury, TX, daughter Linda and Rex Kile of Belton, TX, son Buddy and Betty Ross of Mustang, OK, daughter Kathy and Bo Petty of Midlothian, TX; grandchildren Steve and Jill Cherry, Joy and Mark Gomas, Wally and Brittney Cherry, Rhonda and Kurtis Staudt, Candy and James Covington, Jason Ross, Brandon Ross, Chase Petty, Kody and Sarah Petty; great-grandchildren Emily Cherry, Raley Cherry, Roxanne and Eric Savarese, Eric Gomas, Logan Cherry, Luke Cherry, Aaron Cherry, Megan Covington, Jade Staudt, McKayla Ross, Brylie Ross, Kadence Petty, Rhylen Petty, and one on the way; and great-great-grandchildren Tristan Gomas, Zoey Gomas, and Fynlee Gomas.
Mr. Ross was a long time member of Brown Trail Church of Christ in Hurst.
