Hubert L. Joyner, Jr.

August 25, 1924 — March 5, 2016

Hubert Lester Joyner, Jr., 91, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 5, 2016, surrounded by his family. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth in the Leonard Memorial Chapel. Memorials can be made to the church's missions.
Born in Corsicana, Texas, his family moved to Fort Worth when he was 16 years old. He attended Carter Riverside High School where he met Gay, whom he married May 3, 1947. He graduated with a Psychology degree from TCU. A 2 year baseball letterman, he loved sports, especially baseball and golf. He and Gay were charter members of Diamond Oaks Country Club and played golf there until they were 89. They also went on numerous golf trips with their friends in the “GM” group. His career included working as personnel director for both Leonard and Striplings department stores. In 1971 he opened the Stripling store at NE Mall as its manager. Before retiring he worked at Lawrence D. White & Associates Architects as business manager. His pride and joy was his family who will all miss him dearly.
Survivors: wife of 68 years, Gay; his children Ben Joyner, Jan & Jimmy Grant, Carol & Mark Howe; grandchildren Lindsay & Ben Harrison, Bart & Olivia Howe, Amy & Danny Montemayor, Scott & Katie Grant, Matt & Sandy Howe, Bryan & Lauren Grant, Brooke Joyner; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Ty & Dylan Harrison, Rilee & Taylor Montemayor, Anson Howe, and Easton Grant; brother Lee Joyner.
