Idis William Goddard, 81, went to heaven November 13, 2021 at Heritage Place Assisted Living in Burleson, TX. He was born May 23, 1940 in Imperial, NE to Harold Earl (Bill) and Valeda Arleen Goddard. He grew up in a farm community in Imperial, NE and graduated from Chase County High School in Imperial in 1958. He went on to McCook College and graduated in 1960 with an Associate in Arts degree. He graduated from Texas A&M University, Bryan, TX in 1965 with a degree in wildlife management; and in 1972 he graduated from McNeese State University, in Lake Charles, LA with a Master of Education degree. He taught public school in Nederland, TX for 12 years as a coach and life science teacher. He began selling insurance during the summer months while he was teaching, eventually retiring from teaching and selling insurance until 2018.
He was heavily involved in his church activities, and for the past 20 years participated in several mission trips in foreign countries.
Idis married Lee Anne Lamond in 1998 in Bedford, TX, and they were happily married for 23 years. Idis was an active member of several different churches over his 81 years. He enjoyed helping others, be it in the community or on mission trips. He was an excellent carpenter, and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife.
Idis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Barry Goddard.
Idis is survived by his spouse Lee Anne of Burleson; sons, Wade and wife, Claudia, and Ilan; daughter, Ashley; siblings, Aron and wife, Nancy, Valerie Brady, Carol Spady, and Resa Moore and husband, Bud; grandchildren, Jordan Skinner, Zane Skinner, Ethan Skinner, Aiden Skinner, Jared Goddard, Haven Goddard, Jordan Lamond, Nicholas Lamond, Blair Broughton, and Bryce Broughton.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the wonderful people who treated Idis like a treasure at Heritage Place Assisted Living where Idis resided since August 1, 2020; to St. Gabriel Hospice Service who provided such excellent and compassionate care to him and Lee Anne during his last several weeks; to all their friends from Compass Christian Church in Colleyville, TX, and First Baptist Burleson in Burleson, TX; and to their wonderful friends and neighbors in their community.
Amazing Grace was Idis’s favorite hymn, and he sang it to anyone he could get to stand still long enough to listen! He made so many friends and was a blessing to everyone wherever he went.
