Our Beloved husband, dad, pops/papa, and friend Irvin (Irv) Donald Klinger, born in Valley View, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1938, and passed away January 17, 2016, in Dallas, Texas, after a short illness with leukemia. Irv loved his family and friends. He was especially proud of all his grandchildren, and spent many happy days the past two years with his great grandson, Clash. He was an avid golfer, and very proud of his two back-to-back eagles and his hole in one! He was a member of Wamego Country Club in Wamego, Kansas, and a member of Fossil Creek Golf Course for the past 12 years. he was raised by Matt and Grace Whitaker in Pottsville, PA. He graduated from Pottsville High School in 1956, where he was an outstanding athlete in football and track. He was entered into the All Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. After graduation, he attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatam, Va., and Mansfield College in Pa. Irv served his country for 4 years in the US Air Force. He retired after 34 years with the Sante Fe Railroad, working in Amarillo, TX and Topeka, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife Kay Klinger , sisters Audris Lichota, Peggy Perron,and brother Jimmy Whitaker; his children – Robin Elson, Tammy Walls, Shane Paxton, Heather Brown, Donny Klinger, Cami Amorella, and Tousha Barnes; 23 grandchildren – Jennifer, Bryan, Joseph, Danie, Timothy, Jill, Rusty, Heather, Lucas, Cory, Jada, Tyson, Ethan, Madeline, Sheldon, Kalyn, Logan, Heather, Amber, Josh, Alysen, Braxton, Bryson; 16 great-grandchildren – Jeremy, Noah, Cooper, Melanie, Audrey,Trystan, Kameron, Bobbie, Morgan, Daelyn, Brintley, Gunner, Anabella, Hayden, Leana, Clash; many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life at 2pm Wednesday, January 20th at The Golf Club Fossil Creek Clubhouse, 3401 Clubgate Dr., Ft. Worth, Texas.
A prayer service and celebration of Irv's life will also be at 2pm on Saturday March 26th at:
