Iva Lee Nail, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.
Celebration of Life: Friday, Jan. 24 at 2pm at First United Methodist Church of Euless
Visitation: Thursday, Jan. 23 from 6-8pm at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line, Hurst.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be made to First United Methodist Church of Euless, 106 North Main St. Euless, Texas 76039. Or this Euless Historical Society, care of the City of Euless, 201 N. Ector Drive, Euless, Texas 76039.
Iva was born August 16, 1923 in Euless. She was born into one of Euless' founding families and grew up in the historic Fuller house which is now part of Euless Heritage Park. She graduated from Euless High School and attended North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington.
While attending college in Arlington, Iva met the love of her life, Robert Lewis Nail. After a short courtship, she and Robert were married on June 28, 1942, at the home of her parents, Homer and Edith Fuller. Seventy years later, Iva and Robert would renew their vows in the same spot in which they were married.
Following World War II, Iva and Robert moved to Denton where they both graduated from North Texas State Teachers College. Shortly there after they relocated to Euless and Robert became the first Euless Postmaster. Iva worked as his only employee for a few years, then quit that job to become a stay at home mom.
Iva was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church in Euless and a founding member of the Euless Historical Society. She loved her church, volunteering work with the historical society, as well as cooking and traveling with her husband
Iva was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Edith Fuller, and brothers Bobby and Billy Fuller.
Besides many friends, Iva is survived by her husband of 71 years, a daughter, Linda Pool and husband Mike. She was also blessed with 3 grandchildren, Lauren Pool Gunter of Dallas, Stephen Pool of Seattle, and Susan Pool of Austin.
