RAY LUCIUS – CELEBRATION OF LIFE

               1935 - 2024

Ivan Ray “Ray” Lucius, 89, of Southlake, TX, was born in Fame, Mississippi on May 31, 1935 to

Roger Russel Lucius and Josie Lovett Lucius. Ray accepted Christ at an early age.

Ray graduated early from Eupora High School, where he participated in student activities and

was honored by his fellow students as “Favorite.” He received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering

from Mississippi State University in 1956.

Ray and Recenah Ruth Weddle were joined in holy matrimony on November 16, 1957, and

enjoyed over 66 glorious years together. To this union two children were born.

Following a term of service as an officer in the US Air Force, Ray had a career in the

engineering and construction industry for the Mississippi State Highway Dept., the US Army

Corps of Engineers, Harza Engineers, and Neel-Schaffer, Inc. In addition, he farmed and

produced timber in Mississippi and was part owner of a retail business.

Ray was a member of Walthall Baptist Church and had a passion for church, family time,

inventing, and caring for the land and nature. He made sure the family attended church

regularly, and he enjoyed travelling, especially with his family. Ray loved his chosen field of

engineering, and made numerous inventions, some involving the patenting process.

Ray went to be with Jesus on August 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his daughter,

Valerie Jo Lucius Lambert, and his sister Rebecca Lucius Jones. Ray leaves to cherish his

memories his loving wife Recenah; children/spouses Nelson Lucius, Victoria Lucius, and Steve

Lambert; grandchildren Chandler Lucius, Brittany Lucius, Olivia Kern, and Jeff Kern; great-

grandchildren Emily Kern and a second great-granddaughter expected in February, 2025; and a

host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, with a small family

service then military honors at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
