Jacob Byron Wright of Keller, TX passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 9, 2016. He was born February 23, 2011, in Fort Worth, the son of Mark and Elizabeth (Gorden) Wright.
Jacob was a rough and tumble boy who pursued life with a passion and vigor far beyond his years. A typical morning found Jacob up at the crack of dawn ready for school, church or his favorite pastime, playing! And you name it, he played it: soccer, gymnastics, baseball, basketball or football, this young man was truly an athlete at heart. But the fun did not stop at sports. Playing for Jacob meant dinosaurs, dump trucks, web-slinging as Spider-Man or striking fear in the heart of evil-doers as his absolute favorite superhero, BATMAN!
But Jacob was more than just an athlete and superhero. He was also an intellectual. As the rest of the family attempted to use the big picture to put a puzzle together, Jacob was methodically studying the shapes of the pieces until, almost magically, he was able to form the complete image before the Wrights knew what hit them. This master of riddles and jokes also had a deep love of reading. No book went unread in his room. Most were read dozens if not hundreds of times. "Do Penguins Have Puppies?" Jacob could tell you the answer to that one. Do you know what Deuteronomy 6:5 says? If not, Jacob could tell you the answer to that one too. That is thanks, in part, to his love of his pre-school and children's time at church where he learned about the love of God.
Jacob’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of his existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which he lived. His magnetic smile and contagious laughter could melt the hearts of those around him, and though he was only 5 years in age, Jacob brought pure joy and love to everyone he met. Jacob's last days were spent playing with his family and friends at one of his favorite places on Earth, Mo-Ranch, a Presbyterian church retreat in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas.
He is survived by his loving parents, Mark and Elizabeth Wright, and his big sister, Mackenzie; his uncle and aunt, David and Stacie Wright and cousins Michael and Matthew Wright; his uncles Greg Gorden and Chuck Neal; his grandparents Judy Wright, Ernie and Marilyn Wright, and Guy and Beverly Gorden.
