She graduated as Salutatorian from D’Hanis High School in D’Hanis, Texas in 1955. She played bass drum in the band and enjoyed photography. She attended Southwest Texas State in San Marcus and then graduated from Lamar State College in 1965.
She met Claude at First United Methodist Church of Hondo, when the older ladies of the church set them up while he was serving as choir director at the church. The things that brought her the most joy in life were being, a wife, a mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone she met. Her love language was cooking. She loved cooking for her family, and church family. She was known for making and giving away Friendship Cakes and all kinds of other baked goodies. Through the years she loved to garden, sew, paint, and make arts & crafts. She enjoyed antiques and learning the history and stories behind them.
