Grapevine – James R. Bemis, 74, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Memorial Service will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 Wildwood Lane, Grapevine, TX 76051 on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 am for family and close friends.

James was born in Laurel, Mississippi to Cecil R. Bemis and Sarah A. (Powers) Bemis. He grew up mostly on the West Coast in California and Washington state. When his father retired from the Air Force they moved back to Laurel, MS. James graduated from Jones County Community College and then enlisted in the Air Force in 1967. He was stationed at Kirkland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, NM in 1970. In 1975 he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Conway. He graduated from University of Albuquerque in 1976 with a BS in Business Administration. In 1980 he moved to Arlington, Texas where James became a contracting officer for the Federal Government and worked for General Services Administration and then Federal Aviation Administration. He retired in 2000 and moved to Grapevine, Texas. He loved his sons and helped them with school and extra-curricular activities. He was a loving husband and enjoyed spending time on home projects and traveling with his wife.
James was preceded in death by his late parents; his survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Bemis, two sons; Shawn and his wife Karen Bemis, and Steven Bemis; three brothers, Jerry and his wife Mary Anne Bemis, John Bemis and Jeff and his wife Cindy Bemis; one sister, Judy Appleby and numerous loving family and friends.
