James Nolan Bennett, 73, a Fort Worth native,
was called home to be with the Lord January 18, 2020
after a long battle with liver disease.
James was born on Jan 22, 1946 to Julius Bert and Kathryn McGuire Bennett.
James grew up in the North Side of Fort Worth and was a graduate of North Side High School in 1964. His early jobs at Swift and Company quickly transitioned to work to assist the general public.
James started in the Fort Worth police reserves and in two years became a patrol officer for Haltom City. Eight years later he became the Chief Police Officer of the nearby city of Watauga where he also served temporarily as acting City Manager. James also served in other various public roles. James was a community judge, advisor to the Criminal Justice Program at Tarrant County Junior College, and a Director of Public works.
After many years, James left public service to pursue his dream of being a private investigator where he also served as President of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators.
James was a Master Mason with the Haltom City Riverside Lodge #1331.
James married Emmie Marie Palmares in April of 2002. Through the years, James helped raise numerous children and step-children whom he loved equally and was happiest when he was surrounded by family.
James is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rita Mae Phillips.
Survivors: wife Emmie Bennett; children and stepchildren Jeff Bennett, Julie Carlson, Lori Maguire, Leslie White, Marianne Saif, Raphael Villaluz, Jose Maria Villaluz; along with their spouses; several grandchildren, great-grandchild, and many great friends and family members.
Visitation will be at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst on Thursday Jan 23, 2020 from 6 to 8 pm.
Funeral services will be held in the Lucas chapel on Friday Jan 24, 2020 at 11:00 am.
