NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- James Michael Besaw Sr., 66, was called home to his Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, while doing the thing he enjoyed so much, fishing in Canada.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst.
Jim, the oldest of four children, was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Bay City, Mich., to Raymond and Pearl Bouza Besaw. He joined the Air Force out of high school and served for four years. He served on the Nebraska Highway Patrol for 13 years and then for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring after 30 years of employment.He married the love of his life, Marilyn Dever, on June 8, 1968, celebrating 45 years of marriage together. Jim loved serving his family and friends, always putting others first and he never missed an opportunity to attempt to recruit new acquaintances to take up his passion of fishing.In 2004, Jim was blessed to receive an extension of life when he was the recipient of a liver transplant. He cherished and appreciated every day he was given and was fully aware of the precious gift he received.Survivors: Wife, Marilyn Besaw; daughter, Jody Besaw and children, Connor Duncan, Alyssa Duncan and Emmy Duncan; son, James Michael Besaw Jr. and wife, Erin, and children, Myah Besaw and Adriana Besaw.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Liver Foundation.
