James Roberts Carter, 87
James Roberts Carter (Jimmy) passed away Saturday May 16, 2020. Born September 18, 1932 in Texarkana, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Mary (Roberts) Carter and James C. Carter.
Jimmy graduated from Arkansas High School in Texarkana, Arkansas where he was a star football player. He served in the Marines from 1950-1952 during the Korean War. He married Beth Lofton in 1954, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage together before her passing in 2009.
Jimmy began a long career in the airline industry, and in later years, joined the FedEX Corporation. A true outdoorsman and athlete, Jimmy enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, softball and basketball. Hardworking and dedicated , he rarely missed a day of work. He was a skilled craftsman and could fix just about anything. Jimmy loved his dogs, but his greatest joy in life was to spend time with his wife, Beth, and children, Susan and Bobby especially in the woods camping.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Carter of Hurst, Texas and his son Bobby Carter of Tyler, Texas, his brother, Ray Carter of Denver, Colorado; and many loving cousins.
A private graveside service will held Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Bear Creek Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
