With profound sadness we announce the passing of James L. Caughman Jr. a devoted husband, father and friend to all whose lives he touched on October 27, 2020 at the young age of 51. He had been battling cancer for 10 months and passed peacefully in his own home.
He was born in Tahlequah, OK, to parents Evelyn Lucinda Trammel and James Lindell Caughman Sr. After graduating from Tahlequah High School, he joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso Texas as part of the 3rd ACR for his 2 years of service. He met his future wife on a night out in Juarez, Mexico with some of his unit. He married Renata on Valentine’s Day 1989 which meant he would never forget the day. James attended the University of Texas El Paso. During that time, he served in the Army National Guard 231st Transportation Co. out of Las Cruces, NM. His Unit was called up to Active duty and served in Operation Desert Shield spending 6 months overseas. After returning home he continued his higher education and graduated with a degree in Biology.
James worked for American Honda Finance Co and Motor Company for the last 23 years. He enjoyed volunteering and would do so in any form he was able. From Rocky Top as a walker to all of his kids baseball teams, Girl Scouts and finally at FOTP Church. Volunteering with kids made his day each and every time he was able to do so, it gave him so much joy.
James is survived by both parents, Evelyn Dick of Tahlequah, OK and James Caughman Sr. of Goliad, TX. His Mother in Law, Nancy Morris. His wife Renata L Caughman, his son, Nicholas and his new wife Michelle, and his daughter Katheryn. Both brothers, Jack and Tommy Caughman, his sister in law Marti Morris and their kids, Danny Caughman, Jacob Caughman and Vanessa Morris. Along with several extended family on the Trammel and Caughman side.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Jack Earmel Trammel, James Edward (J.E.) Caughman, Nathelia Evelyn Webb and Mary Marie Moore, and his close cousin Polly Louise Trammel.
Services will be Tues Nov. 10th with a Celebration of Life held at 11:30am at FOTP Church in Haslet, 1029 Avondale Haslet Rd, 76052. If you wish to speak during the service, we have time set aside to do so. Closing prayer then an escort to the cemetery at 1pm. Military honors will be given at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Unfaulted.org. This organization was near and dear to his heart.
