James Glen Delong

January 14, 1942 — July 12, 2019

James DeLong of Keller Texas passed away on July 12, 2019 in Bedford Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him. He was born on January 14, 1942 in Oconto Falls Wisconsin to Glenn and Gunillia DeLong. James lived most of his childhood in Alaska until he joined the Navy at 17. He served a total of 7 years in the U.S. Navy and Army. James spent the rest of his career as an electrician working for Vought Aeronautics in Grand Prairie, Texas. In his past time James enjoyed collecting coins, cars and antiques. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. James will be remembered as a generous man. Everyone knew that a stop by to see James guaranteed you to leave with more than you came with. He received great joy in giving his treasures to those he loved. James’ other hobbies included medal detecting, reading history books and magazines, and later in life garage sailing with his wife. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing him would agree that heaven received a great treasure. James is survived by his wife Linda DeLong of Keller Texas, Daughters Cindy DeLong of Fort Worth Texas, Tammie Grantham and her husband Peter of Grapevine, Texas, 5 grandchildren Crystal Latu and her husband Aisea of Fort Worth, Texas, James Pool and his wife Cynthia of Fort Worth Texas, Ashley Luera of Fort Worth Texas, Nicholas Grantham and his wife Sarah of Euless Texas, and Natalie Grantham of Grapevine Texas, Brothers Joe DeLong of Lawton Oklahoma, Craig DeLong of Moore Oklahoma, sisters Paula Kimbrell and her husband Dave of Oklahoma City Oklahoma and Debra Reed of Lawton Oklahoma, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews James was preceded in death by his parents Glen DeLong and Gunillia Erickson. The visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday July 23,2019 at Lucas Funeral Home Keller Texas. The Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 24,2019 at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel Keller Texas. Interment will follow in DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie Texas at 2:15 p.m.
