James “Jim” Daryl Gantt, 63, of Ponder, Texas, met his lord and savior on November 13, 2023. A Texas native Jim was born on April 7, 1960, in Pasadena, Texas. Except for military assignments and living in California for 8 years, Jim spent his life in Texas. Jim was a generous, committed, and fun-loving man who was known for his hard work, honesty and commitment to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, friend and proud to be a Texan and Marine!

Jim served honorably in the Marine Corp from 1977-1981. After his military service, Jim pursued a successful career at General Telephone/Verizon retiring as a telecommunications Engineering Manager. He also worked for Cyient, GW and Ericsson in various telecommunication roles. Later, he opened his own engineering consulting company.

Outside of work, Jim had a variety of hobbies. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, golfing, drone piloting, cast iron restoration, building guitars, and collecting shoes and hats. He loved a good glass of whiskey and had fond memories of drinking Guinness throughout Europe. Jim was always up for a trip to New Orleans and loved sharing his favorite places with friends and family in NOLA. Jim never met a stranger, he always greeted everyone with a firm handshake a big hug and huge smile. Jim never missed an opportunity to mentor and encourage others or tell them how proud he was of them, their accomplishments or their character. Jim loved life and lived it to the fullest.
