James “Jim” Leslie Harper passed away on Sunday, August 9, in Fort Worth, TX. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on July 24, 1950 in Roswell, New Mexico to James and Celeste Harper. Jim was a graduate of Texas High School in Texarkana, then spent much of his time as a cross-country truck driver. He loved spending time on the water in race boats and blasting down winding roads on his Harley. In the last few years, he spent much of his time with his beloved grand-dog, Bella.
Jim is survived by his wife, Connie of Haltom City, TX; son, James “Jimmy” Harper and his wife, Gwen of Fort Worth, TX; step-son, Wes Clayton and his wife, Juli of Cleburne, TX; step-daughter, Stacey Clayton of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Mike Harper and his wife, Debbie of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Ashley Clayton, Bradley Gill, Blake Gill, Caitlin Harper, Mason Harper, Eleanor Sullivan, Carson Clayton, Brooke Clayton, and Gracie Clayton; niece, Kelly Butts.
Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents, James and Celeste Harper, and his brother, Billy Harper.
The visitation will be held from 6pm -8pm on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 S. Main St. Keller, TX 76248.
The graveside service will be held at 10am on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of North Texas.
