James E. Herrington went home to be with Jesus on December 28, 2022 at the age of 83, surrounded by his family.
James was born in Hope Arkansas on March 2, 1939 to Earl and Eugenia Herrington. His Father was a Baptist Pastor and he spent his youth running around the Church causing mischief with his three brothers!
James' first job was sacking groceries at A.L. Davis Grocery store in the Riverside area of Fort Worth at the age of 13! He went on to have two full careers! He spent 30 years working in the Banking industry at several different banking institutions. Through his incredibly strong work ethic and his tenacity to be successful at whatever he did he worked his way up to be the President of Mercantile National bank in Arlington and Hulen National Bank in Fort Worth. After retiring from banking, James began his second career, spending 35 years with Don Davis Auto Group in Arlington, where he was still working full time at the time of his death.
In 1970, James was the Vice President of the State Bank of East Fort Worth where his secretary was, Candy Lynn Rawls, one year later she Became his wife, Candy Lynn Herrington! They were married for 51 wonderful years and had three daughters and six amazing grandchildren! Together, James and Candy built a beautiful legacy of strong family who love the Lord and each other more than anything else! He once said that “Other than the Good Lord, this family is the strongest thing on earth”, and that was true.
James fiercely loved his country and was very proud of his service in the United States Army National Guard. He was also part of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church of Keller.
In his spare time, his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family! He also loved photography and kept a very close account of the family's history on video. He was an avid movie buff and has a massive collection of movies for his family to watch and enjoy, James was a force of nature and up Until the time that he went in to the hospital he worked out and ran 2.5 miles every other day!
James was preceded in death by his Parents, his Sisters Nancy Herrington & Jimmilee Reinhold and his brothers Glen Herrington and William Herrington, who was also his very best friend.
James is survived by his amazing wife Candy Lynn Herrington, his children Mindy Lynn Cutrer and her husband Eddie, Terri Lynn McCall and her husband Brent, and Tracy Lynn Biggar and her husband Brad, Granddaughters Ella Lynn Thames, Maci Lynn McCall, Evyn Lynn Thames, Zoe Lynn McCall, Presley Lynn McCall and his Grandson Jacob Michael Biggar. He is also survived by his eldest brother Gene Herrington.
