James “Jim” Barrett Welky was born on November 14, 1952 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and he passed away on September 9, 2019 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 66.
He had many years as a top notch motorcycle mechanic in Florida and Wisconsin. He transitioned to Tool & Die work in the early 1980's. His many and widely varied interests included anything to do with machine work and manufacturing, as evidenced by what's in the basement and garage! Making his family happy and secure was uppermost on his mind, and he greatly succeeded in that. Cannot leave out his rabid fascination for anything motorcycle. Jim deeply loved God, and was a faithful member of the Birdville Church of Christ for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Krista Joy Welky.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda J. Welky of Richland Hills, Texas; daughter, Betsy Bailey and husband, Matt of Hurst, Texas; son, Ray Welky and wife, Amanda of Euless, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew Bailey, Anna Bailey, and Mason Welky; parents, Emmett and Marjorie Welky of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; brother, David Welky; sister, Pamela Paul; and sister, Debbie Miles and husband, Mark.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Lucas Funeral Home located at 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76053.
If desired, the family request memorial donations in Jim’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research or the Public Service Station KERA for many years of excellent programming.
